When we started working on this project, we touched upon the problems of building cottage settlements in the 2000s

There was a reconstruction of 2 adjacent houses and combining them into one complex

This was done by building a SPA block with a swimming pool between them, as a link

The client’s wishes did not fit into the existing planning structure

We have developed a preliminary project involving, in addition to new construction, a global reconstruction of houses, both inside and outside

Reconstruction is a process in which the working design takes place in parallel with the construction work

This is due to the fact that at each stage of construction work, existing structures are opened and examined and appropriate design decisions are made

As surgeons, we removed excess, added missing volumes, reinforced ceilings and walls, moved walls, cut holes, changed the outline of openings on facades, dismantled and erected new stairs

Work on the reconstruction involves taking responsibility for the structures made several years ago

One of the tasks in the design was to transform the facades, preserving the general geometry of the houses

The geometry of the windows on the facades was brought into line with the new concept

To do this, you need to have certain knowledge and experience in order to predict their behavior and give an expert assessment

During the reconstruction, it was possible to implement all the solutions conceived by the preliminary design, overcoming the difficulties of the process

One of the houses has noticeably increased — a banquet hall and a covered terrace on the 1st floor, an office on the 2nd and the necessary technical rooms in the basement have been added to it

A SPA block with an 11-meter swimming pool, a children’s pool serves as a recreation area for the whole family, and an adjacent gallery connects the two houses

The pool room has a maximum height of 7 meters

One of the tasks in the complex solution of facades was to get away from the pseudo-Wright style, to level the pile of existing volumes, to create a single concise image

The stylistics are based on smooth natural shapes and soft geometric ornaments, which are intertwined in various bas-reliefs

The sketches of ornaments designed specifically for this project refer to the aesthetics of American Art Deco of the early 30s

The bas-reliefs and decor are cast from fiberglass concrete based on a crumb of natural stone. In terms of visual qualities, it is in no way inferior to natural stone

They create a feeling of floating forms and lead away from the usual perception of the classical style of decor

Forged laconic fences with glass inserts add elegance

The concept of night illumination emphasizes the soaring decorative cornice and the rhythmicity of the facade composition
